Tteokbokki is a spicy stir-fried dish that usually consists of cylinder-shaped rice cakes, sweet red chili sauce, and fish cakes. It is considered to be one of the top street food items in Korea, and can usually be bought from street vendors known as pojangmacha.Originally, tteokbokki was called tteok jjim, a braised dish of sliced rice cakes, meat, eggs, and seasonings.Although it was brown in color, today it is red, because the colors changed when gochuang (a spicy chili paste) was introduced in the mid-1900s. What was once a dish for the royals is nowadays one of the cheapest street food dishes in Korea, and recently, there have even been efforts to turn it into a food franchise due to continuous demand for tteokbokki among Korean people.
NBH Rice Cake is made only with carefully selected Korea rice, which allows even more chewy texture for Tteokbokki! Tteok – rice ′′ cake ′′ which is a basic ingredient for some of the most famous Korean dishes. Tteokbokki is a dish with sweet-hot sauce, very delicious and tteokguk a beef soup with tteok, which is cooked most often on New Year’s Day.
For the stability of the product, this processed with alcohol so it could have a little bit of smell when opening, but this is safe to eat. You may see black spots on the product, but it is embryo bud of rice and safe to eat.
How to cook Tteokbokki:
1. Rinse rice cakes with water and drain them.
2. Add the drained rice cakes, hot pepper paste, sugar and water to a frying pan and bring it to a boil.
3. You can add eggs, fish cakes or vegetables to your liking.
